Our Philosophy

At Stepping Stones, we believe childhood is a precious, joyful time. A time full of curiosity, wonder and discovery. As a small nursery, we are convinced that a nurturing, family like environment. Where each child feels safe, valued and known is the foundation for thriving learning, growth and well being.

We aim to create a warm, welcoming setting where:

Children are treated as individuals, with respect for their unique personalities, interests and pace of development.

Learning is rooted in play spontaneous, open ended, imaginative play that allows children to explore, experiment, and make sense of their world.

Curiosity is encouraged. We respond to each child’s interests, offering resources, experiences and challenges that ignite their love of learning.

Independence is nurtured: children learn to make choices, care for themselves and respect others, building confidence and resilience.

Relationships matter: meaningful bonds with staff and peers create a strong sense of belonging, which supports emotional and social development as much as learning.

Early years should be more than “keeping children busy”, they should spark curiosity, exploration and a love of learning. Childhood ought to be full, fun and fulfilling, with learning woven naturally into everyday life.
